Other ways that we protect your personal data are by using an SSL Certificate, purchased from Geotrust, to encrypt and protect any data, such as credit card information, that you submit through our shopping cart. When you visit the shopping cart portion of the website, you’ll see the beginning part of web address change from http:// to https:// indicating that you are in the secure portion of the site.

2) At FollenderWerks your credit card information has extra protections. The owners of FollenderWerks, Ross Birns or Teresa Birns, review every transaction before it is formally processed through the bank to the credit card company. This allows us to make adjustments to shipping or resolve order issues before dollars change hands. We contact you, the customer, to discuss and confirm any necessary adjustments before processing the order.

This review also means that we catch fake orders from identity thieves before they are processed. This protects our company and it protects the person whose credit card was stolen. We also alert the credit card’s issuing bank, so they can contact the true card owner and stop further abuse.

In addition to our protection of your information on the website, we also protect your personal information within our office. Our accounting system is kept “unplugged” from the internet and credit card information is not stored electronically. We store credit card information using methods recommended by the credit card companies.
